The Adult Education Center strives to provide educational opportunities to area residents that are not otherwise locally available. A major part of this effort is Adult Basic Education which provides students with training in reading, math, writing, and living skills that will enhance their ability to work and function in society.
Adult Basic Education (ABE)- Prescriptive testing, classes, and special help with learning disabilities are available. Computer and employability skills are taught.
General Educational Development (GED) – The GED test is administered monthly. Diagnosis, classes and preparation materials are available. The Kansas State High School Diploma is issued by the Kansas Board of Regents (KBOR) upon successful completion of the test battery. The GED testing fee is $68.00; there is no charge for classes and skills testing.
Transitional counseling is provided to students. Counseling includes assistance in identifying aptitudes, interests, and skills; information concerning post-secondary education, careers, and options; and assistance with goal setting.
To qualify for Adult Education services you must meet one of the following conditions. You must not have a high school diploma or must not have successfully completed the GED test battery or you do not have basic reading, writing, or math skills and meet eligibility requirements based on Comprehensive Adult Student Assessment System (CASAS) diagnostic testing provided by the Center.
