Social Work Services
Social work services are available to any student and/or family in need throughout the USD 290 school district. Services available are as follows:
Provide direct services to identified students and families
- Provide early intervention in problem situations to facilitate conflict resolution and to prevent development of more serious difficulties.
- Provide assistance in communicating identified student and/or parent's concerns to the school and the school's concerns to the student/or parent, while enabling families to convey their concerns to the school to promote open lines of communication.
- Provide assistance for family and school in effective utilization of community resources; and assist parents in locating and acquiring additional services.
Provide for effective school and community cooperation by serving as a liaison between the school and existing community agencies
- Increase communication between schools and SRS as well as other community agencies including mental health, county health department, law enforcement, and court services.
- Refer students, parents or family to community agencies and appropriate community resources as needed.
- Provide the school with essential information about a child's background (life-situation) so the school can better understand and teach the child.
- Provide consultation to school personnel, members of school boards, and representatives of the community to promote understanding and the effective utilization of school social work services.
