PRINCIPAL AND ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL

PRINCIPAL

Welcome to Ottawa Middle School, Home of the Whirlwinds! I couldn't be more excited to get started at Ottawa Middle School as the new Principal here. While this is my first year at Ottawa Middle School, it is not my first year in Ottawa USD 290. In fact, this will be the start of my 24th year in Ottawa. I have served as a Teacher, an Assistant Principal, a Principal, and a Special Education Coordinator. Opening a new chapter of my career at Ottawa Middle School is one I am looking forward to. There are already many students and families I have come to know over the years and am so grateful to be able to work with them again. For those of you I have not met, I look forward to meeting you and working with you also!

I strive to ensure that Ottawa Middle School is a place where each student is valued, educated, and has the skills and behaviors to be a successful adult. I don't believe this can be done alone, we need a strong partnership with parents to help support students' goals. Open communication between parents and school staff is imperative to ensure student success and achievement. We also need high levels of engagement and rigor in the classroom. When we: Build the Relationship, Create the Engagement, and Ensure the Rigor, we can do great things for students!

ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL

Welcome! I am delighted to step into the role of Assistant Principal/Athletics Director at Ottawa Middle School. The 2022-2023 school year is my 9th year at OMS and 25th year in education. Throughout my tenure at OMS, I have worked in the capacity of teacher, librarian, and instructional coach. My experiences at OMS have helped me develop positive relationships and community connections; these connections will create a positive learning environment for all students.

These last 8 years at OMS, combined with several years of elementary teaching experience, have reinforced my beliefs that life long learning is an important skill for students to develop. As an administrator, I hope to help cultivate an environment where academic achievement and personal growth is promoted and expected.
