We are thrilled to welcome your kindergartner to the Lincoln family this August! We know this season brings a mix of emotions—from excitement to a few nerves—and we’re here to support you and your child every step of the way.
📅 Kindergarten Enrollment – In Person
All kindergarten families need to complete enrollment in person on Thursday, July 30th at Lincoln Elementary. Our school nurse, counselor, and all three kindergarten teachers will be present and excited to meet your family!
🧠 ASQ Screener
Most families complete the ASQ developmental screener at Kindergarten Round-Up. If you are unable to complete it at that time, we will contact you to schedule an appointment. This screener is a state requirement and helps our teachers better understand your child’s needs and strengths.
✏️ The First Day of School
To make your child’s first day smooth and special:
8:00-8:15 am Arrival: Please park in the back and enter through the gym.
8:15 am: students will head to classrooms with teachers.
Parents are welcome to stay with the principal for a quick overview of what to expect in kindergarten this year. (this will only take about 10 minutes)
🕒 Please Note:
Students will eat lunch daily. Dismissal will be at 11:10 on Wednesday and Thursday.
👩🏫 Kindergarten Teacher Assignments
In USD 290, we work hard to build balanced classrooms where every child can thrive. During the first week of school, our three kindergarten teachers will rotate working with different groups of students. This allows us to:
Get to know your child’s personality and learning style
Begin building classroom routines and expectations
Conduct informal academic assessments
We also consider your child’s ASQ results and social interactions as we create well-rounded classes.
🎉 Teacher Reveal & Meet the Teacher Night
Your child’s kindergarten teacher will be assigned at the end of the day on Thursday, August 20th. To celebrate, we invite you back that evening for a special Kindergarten-Only Meet the Teacher Night from 5:30–6:30 PM.
