   2022 OHS Drivers Education Information 

Welcome to the OHS Drivers Education Course. Our goal is to help beginning drivers prepare for their role in the Highway Transportation System. Parents have a vital role towards the successful completion of the course by the student. 

Read below for instructions regarding online enrollment starting Monday, March 21st. 2022 through April 30th, 2022.

Guidelines to successfully complete the course:

1. MUST be 14 years old or having their 14th birthday no later than Tuesday, May 31st, 2022. 

2. ATTEND all scheduled classroom and driving sessions. 

3. BEHAVE in a manner that allows learning to take place in a safe environment. 

4. COMPLETE all of the requirements in the classroom phase and behind-the-wheel phase of the course.

5. ABIDE by all driving laws. 

Course Fee = $150.00 for USD290 Students, or $275.00 for out of district or home-schooled students

Enrollment: 

Students must enroll online or make other arrangements.  All other Personal and State Information will be completed on the first day of class.  A driving schedule will also be completed at that time. 

IMPORTANT: Please consider family vacations, summer sports camps, dance camps, morning weight training and conditioning, work schedules, and anything else that might interfere with your classroom and driving before picking times. Students are expected to not miss classroom or driving times once they are enrolled.

You will meet for your scheduled driving time at the OHS Career and Technology Education Center. Park and enter OHS from the north parking lot (senior parking lot).  Driver education cars will be found parked by the C-Tech playground equipment.

Classroom: 

The class will begin on Tuesday, May 31st. 2022 at Ottawa High School in the (PAC) Performing Arts Center. There will be two class sessions each day from (8-10am) and (10am-12 noon).  The class will last 10-12 school days depending upon student attendance, completion of work, and conduct.  Each student will have 10-12 driving days depending on each student’s individual driving skills determined by the instructor.  Students and instructors ARE NOT required at this time to wear masks while in the classroom or in the driver ed. car at this point.
