Lexie perseveres in multiple aspects in her life. She shows up everyday and does the darn thing. We can't teach self-motivation, and that's great because Lexie does it for herself!

Thomas works hard as my student aide. I have given him the very tedious task of reorganizing my storage closet and he's done it without complaint. I am happy to have him as my aide and makes my job easier.

Wes constantly contributes to class discussions aiding in the learning of other students. When other students are reluctant to answer questions, Wes always is willing to provide input to the class. Wes completes all assignments with a great amount of detail and demonstrates pride in the work he submits, regardless if it is for a grade or not. Wes is always open to working with any student in the class and will encourage students in the class to work in his group if someone does not have a group to work with. Wes is polite and nonjudgmental of everyone in the class

McKenna is always willing to help out. She has taken full initiative in conducting her SR 20Time Project in the community and has been seen by community members as a positive, young role model for other students!!

On Tuesday during Cyclone Hour, someone spilled chocolate milk in the hallway. Lemon responded by getting the milk cleaned up and did a great job.Throughout the clean up, she smiled and was very friendly to the students around her. I truly appreciate Lemon responding to the the spill with such a positive attitude.

Devin has been participating more during class notes this semester. He has really improved in work completion. I am very proud of Devin for his work ethic and very much hope to see it continue through graduation.

Cole serves as such a positive example in the hallways of OHS. Cole has the character that OHS wants every Cyclone to exemplify. He always does the right thing when no one is watching and is a hard worker in the classroom and on the field/court.

Ethan helped another student who was having trouble finding responses for a lesson, without even asking, Ethan went over to the peer and helped him find what he was needing. Ethan chose to go above and beyond for his classmate, who was very thankful for the help.

Colton has become a great positive individual that continues to strive to be excellent in both character and academics. I have truly enjoyed having Colton in class and he has easily climbed to be one of the best students that I have had and I look forward to seeing him every day. Sarah has really flourished in her first week of OVS. She’s doing very well in the program and is keeping on pace.

Nathaniel was walking in the hallway and had saw that another classmate was needing assistance to get to the nurse. He immediately stopped what he was doing and assisted this student, asking if they were okay and if they had needed help. I appreciated witnessing Nathaniel stepping up in an act of kindness when no one else was looking.

I want to nominate Lauren this week for Cyclone of the Week! Lauren is such a joy to have in English. No one "loves" English during the 1st hour of the day, however Lauren approaches it in a positive way. She engages in everything we do in class whether it be discussion, readings, or day to day assignments. Additionally, she says good morning and is always so kind! She always makes my mornings and she is the energy we need in the mornings!

Dante and Quintana Silvey for their volunteer to clean up the South Gym after lunch each day. This shows great respect to our janitorial staff by prepping the space for the transition from lunch to class time.

Mitchell has embraced the culture and learning environment that OLC provides, so well! He has shown amazing concentration and determination in working on his classes. He is very respectful to staff and his peers!  So happy to have him at OLC!!

Tru has adjusted to the expectations and demands of OLC very well. She is completing notes and meeting her magic number consistently. With her good work ethic and determination to complete required classes, even the math ones that she finds more challenging, she should be able to graduate on time with her classmates later this Spring.

Brandie has been using her time outside of class effectively by completing notes, so that her time at Eugene Field is spent on testing. She has been able to complete 9 classes this semester as of Dec. 7th. At this rate she will graduate a year early this May. I appreciate her pleasant attitude and tenacious work ethic.  I am glad to have Brandie as part of my OLC class.

Trey since day one has been such an amazing student to have in class. In Spanish 3 he helps create an inclusive environment within the class which is especially helpful in a class of six students. Outside of the class he is an active member of Spanish club and even though he has been injured, he continues to show up to the other sports and activities he's a part of here at ohs.

Quinn is in my Leadership class, and she always walks into class with a smile on her face. On days where I am handing out Cyclone Cards, she always comes in just a little early, and without being asked, she helps clean up and put away all the snacks and candy in my cabinets. This week in class, while we were working on a class project and several students were sitting quiet and disengaged and only one classmate was up working, she realized that she could be a leader and stepped to the front to help her classmate and lead by example. Quinn always has a positive attitude and is kind to everyone.

Collin has diligently been working on the Cyclone of the Week web page for weeks.  As he has navigated through the multiple issues, he has worked through each problem until a solution is found.  I'm super impressed with how he keeps his cool and never shows frustration

Peyton is one of the friendliest and kindest students I know. I have heard multiple stories from fellow staff and students how inclusive she is for all students. Recently, I heard how she went out of her way to be helpful and welcoming to students with special needs in one of her classes. Peyton is a class act and is a good example for others in the OHS student body!

Lilly is part of Renaissance Core Council and in my Leadership class. She is always looking for ways to help and volunteer without being asked. She is observant and sees people when they're hurting and is always quick to be kind and see if she can offer any type of assistance. She recently presented a new idea to Renaissance to promote and reward positivity around our building which we are working on implementing. She always goes above and beyond with her class assignments and is very thoughtful in her work, as well as working hard to pull in all of her group members and finding ways to include everyone. I appreciate Lilly's quiet-natured, strong leadership.

Nikayle has been the soul individual responsible for converting the Booster Club's sports program into our software so that it can be managed by the Sports & Entertainment Marketing class for many years to come. She has worked many hours on this project over the past two years to streamline completion of the program for each the, Fall, Winter and Spring sports seasons. The program can be found at all home athletic contest as well as downloaded online through a QR Code. I cannot think of a person more deserving of this honor. What she has contributed impacts hundreds of students at OHS as well as connecting OHS with the Ottawa and visiting communities!

TJ has been an asset in my classroom, he has brought a high level of discussion and exhibits a grasp of the world around him. He carries himself with Cyclone Pride and I have loved having him in class. I get to see a different side of TJ in an academic setting and I have been impressed and proud of him. Keep it up TEEJ!

Lillian is always asking questions in my Algebra II class and engaging in conversation. She also balances a lot between taking college classes and working a job outside of school! Marcus is a go-getter in Metals I. He keeps himself focused and busy on projects. Often times going beyond project expectations. He is excited about Metals class almost every day and when he finishes early which has happened more than once he plans and does little side projects for himself. Students often look to him for guidance and direction on their projects.

Leah is full of joy and matches her preschool student's energy. What impressed me the most was one day Leah is her willingness to connect with students in ways that she may not personally enjoy(catching a praying mantis because her student is interested in bugs!)

Jazlyn is one of our leaders in the Journalism department. Jazlyn is always going above and beyond attending Cyclone events ensuring we have great pictures for the yearbook. I appreciate her leadership and willingness to use her talents to help OHS!

I scored the volleyball game against Louisburg, so I had the opportunity to watch all of the teams play. Emery exemplifies what being a strong leader means. The varsity girls were up and down taking the match to five games. They were tired and running out of steam, but Emery stayed positive and continued to motivate each member with positive words and encouraging body language. It's so easy when you're losing to be hard on yourself and just want to give up, but she never did this. No matter the play, she remained consistent in encouraging each of her teammates to stay in the game and not give up. I was pretty blown away watching her, and I couldn't help but think how awesome it would be if everyone could see this type of leadership in action and apply it to their daily lives.

Ellie has been wonderful in Advisory. She’s attentive to everything she is learning in Freshmen 101. She naturally wants to expand her understanding of everything OHS offers in terms of extracurricular and academics.

Lucy joined cross country this year and has made improvements every week. She has continued to go farther distances and grown in her confidence and determination. There has been many times she thought she wouldn't be able to do the tasks ahead and she has pushed on and surprised herself with her grittiness and ability to do things she once thought was impossible. Great work, Lucy! I can't wait to see her improvements over this season and the next few years!

Josue stayed late in my class one day and I watched him put away dishes that were not his and clean areas and messes that he was not responsible for. He has set a great example for the students in the class to follow and has been a great help to me.

Foster is an outstanding leader at Ottawa High School. She collaborated with Mrs. Gearhart to put together Ottawa High School's first Senior Sunrise. This was an inclusive event that allowed her classmates to come together before beginning their final year of high school. I'm excited to see all the ways she works to bring her classmates together this year!
