Spring Sports Spectator Guidelines

Spring sports are underway and competition will begin in the near future.  With that in mind, USD 290 would like to make you aware of the spectator guidelines for spring sports.  Please keep in mind that each school and county will have their own guidelines in relation to mitigating COVID-19.  The following guidelines apply only to OHS events.

Spectator Attendance for Outdoor Sports:

  • Based on the fact that events are outside and have larger areas to promote social distancing, there will not be a limitation on the number of spectators that can attend per athlete.

  • There will be no tickets issued per participant to allow admittance to each event.

  • Parents, guardians, and other family members are asked to only attend the game / event in which their student is participating.  Please arrive just before the start of your student’s game / event and leave at its conclusion.  Please do not arrive early or stay late to watch other games / events.

Mitigation:

  • Please sit within family groups and socially distance between other families while in attendance.

  • Due to limited bleacher seating for baseball and softball, spectators are encouraged to bring their own chairs and spread out around the facility to help promote social distancing.

Masks:

  • Every spectator will be required to have a mask upon entry.

  • The Franklin County Health Department and USD 290 encourage all spectators to wear masks at events to help prevent the spread of COVID-19.

  • Masks should be worn properly over the nose and mouth.  Please be aware of proper mask wearing especially in areas that are difficult to maintain social distancing, such as, restrooms, concession stands, and in admission lines.

Other Schools:

  • When traveling to other schools, please bring a mask with you as many schools will be requiring masks to enter events.

  • If attendance is limited at other schools, coaches and/or OHS will communicate those restrictions to players, parents, and guardians.

Miscellaneous:

  • OHS outdoor events will not be livestreamed due to not restricting admission and internet accessibility issues at outdoor facilities.

Our goal is to provide as safe of an environment as possible for our students and patrons.  We appreciate your cooperation and understanding with these guidelines.  If you have any questions about the guidelines, you may contact OHS Activities Director, Shawn Phillips at phillipss@usd290.org
